Run for Maggie

Join us for the 5th annual Run for Maggie, a 5K Memorial Run/Walk and One Mile Fun Run benefitting the Maggie Daniels Memorial Scholarship at Discovery High School, and celebrating the inspirational life of Maggie Daniels, a beloved counselor, teacher, friend and runner.

Trophies will be given to top overall female and male finishers, top female and male finishers from Discovery High School and NCHS, and top female and male finishers in the following age brackets:  12 and under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and over. 

Social teams of 5 or more may register for the 5K and receive $3 off each participant's registration fee. Businesses may sponsor corporate teams for a tax-deductible fee of $50. Show DHS and Maggie's friends and family some love by getting fun with costumes, headgear and signage. Think pink, Maggie's favorite color! Teams must register by midnight on October 5, 2018. 

Every participant who registers by midnight on October 5 will receive an artist-designed t-shirt with one of Maggie's favorite quotes on it. Regular t-shirts are free.  Dri-fit and long sleeves are available for an additional $5.  After October 5, there will be a limited number of regular adult size t-shirts available to registrants on race day on a first-come, first-served basis. Dri-fit and long sleeve will not be available after October 5. Additional t-shirts are also available for purchase on this site through October 5.  We cannot guarantee that you will receive a t-shirt if you register after October 5.

Course Route: Begin on North Ashe in front of Gurley stadium. Proceed south to West 13th Street, where you’ll turn right before making an immediate left onto North Ashe. Continue down North Ashe until it ends at West 4th Street. Make a right onto 4th Street. Take the next left onto North Cline Avenue. At the end of North Cline, make a left onto West 1st Street, then a right onto South Ashe Avenue. Make a left onto West B street. Make a left onto South Brady Avenue by the Recreation Center. Continue on Brady until it makes a sharp left and becomes East 4th Street. Continue on 4th Street, then make right on North Ashe Avenue (part of the original route). Continue down North Ashe until you make a right on West 13th Street, then an immediate left onto North Ashe. Proceed to the finish line in front of Gurley Stadium.
