For the Love of Humanity 5K

Heart For Our City is a community outreach organization that will be hosting a 5k walk /run in efforts to raise funds for the Non-Profit Organization Preemptive Love Coalition. This organization brings relief to families fleeing war in Syria, and Iraq by assisting them in rebuilding their lives, and providing lifesaving medical care for the children in conflict zones. The organization has agreed to accept all the proceeds, and we are hoping to raise enough money to make a difference within their organization.

 About Preemptive Love Coalition:
Preemptive Love is a global movement of peacemakers changing the way we engage the world’s most polarizing conflicts by confronting fear with acts of love. Violence unmakes communities and healthcare systems, leaving children born with life-threatening heart defects exposed and vulnerable. We provide lifesaving heart surgeries to children born in conflict-zones and thousands of hours of hands-on training for local medical teams so they can be the remedy long after we are gone.
ISIS has displaced and victimized tens of thousands of men, women, and children across Iraq. We provide emergency food, shelter, and supplies to those families on the run and lifesaving support to those still behind enemy lines. Our programs ensure ISIS will not have the final word. For the tens of thousands victimized by ISIS, they do not need a handout; they need a hand-up. We change the way the world engages polarizing conflict by empowering victims and turning them into small business owners, employers, and sustainable sources of revenue and hope for their families and local community.
Every day, children in conflict-zones are exposed to violence, sexual predators, extremist ideologies, and unsafe working conditions. We put children back in the classroom, protecting them from every-day risks and opening them up to every-day opportunities for education and a future. Peace is not just the absence of war. It's the presence of restored relationships once the gunfire stops. We step into active conflict-zones and create space for ongoing dialogues about the root causes of conflict, grievances, and opportunities for forgiveness and reconciliation in the political, religious, and social sector.
Peace may happen in the big moments, but it is waged in the small ones.
