Scranton Half Marathon

 

The 11th edition of the Scranton Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2024, beginning and ending at PenFed Credit Union Field at Memorial Stadium. The goal of the race is to provide a superior event highlighting the local area and in doing so, bring increased exposure and revenue for local businesses.

Please note the start times for the half marathon run (8:00 AM) and the half marathon walk (6:45 AM).

**Elm Street Cutoff time - In the interest of safety and to allow city streets to reopen as scheduled, the race course will remain open to all participants who reach the Elm Street trailhead of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail (roughly 7.5 miles) by 10:15 AM. This would be an 18:00 minute per mile pace for runners and a 28:00 minute per mile pace for walkers. Those participants who are unable to meet the 10:15 AM cutoff time will be directed to turn right onto the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail and will not be able to complete the full 13.1 mile course and their finish time will not be recorded. 

Virtual Half Marathon Run and Virtual Half Marathon Walk

• Run or walk the half marathon distance wherever you'd like between April 4 and April 7, 2024.
• Submit your time to scrantonhalfresults@gmail.com to be included in the virtual results
• Cost is $55 and includes bib, finisher shirt, medal, and finisher gift
• Pickup your virtual race swag during expo hours on Friday, April 5 from 5 to 8 PM or Saturday, April 6 from 11 AM to 5 PM
• If you live outside of the NEPA area, your race swag will be mailed to you during the week of April 8, 2024.
• Virtual race participants are not eligible for any age group awards or cash prizes
• Please note that if you register for the virtual run or walk, you are unable to transfer your registration to the in-person event

Half Marathon Walk! 

• Begins at 6:45am.
• Fully chip timed.
• Finishers receive Half Marathon Medal and Finisher's Gift.
• Awards to the Overall Male and Overall Female finishers.
• Aid stations for the walk begin with the mile 7.5 station.  
• This is a walk only, and participants are not permitted to engage in running during the event if registered for the walk.
• ***Walkers must stay on the sidewalks until the lead police vehicle comes by at which point the course will be fully secure***
• Please note that due to course safety restrictions, the Doherty Double is not walk friendly.

Kid's Fun Run!

We welcome back to the 2024 Scranton Half Marathon, the kid's fun runs. Participants will receive a bib, and finisher medal. The 1/4 mile runs will start at approximately 8:15 AM on race morning. The 1/2 mile runs will follow the conclusion of the 1/4 mile runs. Please note that all participants must be off of the infield by 9 AM to ensure the safety of participants from the kids fun runs as well as the half marathon. 

1/4 Mile Fun Runs

• Run 1 - Ages 5 - 6
• Run 2 - Ages 7 - 8

1/2 Mile Fun Runs

• Run 1 - Ages 9 - 10
• Run 2 - Ages 11 - 12

 

Race Dates: Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Times:  5K: 3:00 PM (Saturday, April 6)

              Half Marathon Walk: 6:45 AM (Sunday, April 7)

              Half Marathon: 8:00 AM (Sunday, April 7)

*The Doherty Double consists of both the 5K run only on Saturday, April 6, and the Half Marathon run only on Sunday, April 7, walkers are not permitted to signup for the Doherty Double.*
