Want to double your donations? It’s simple. Encourage your donors to check with their employer’s HR department to see if they offer matching gifts. Many companies match donations dollar-for-dollar — and some even double them! It’s an easy way to multiply impact at no extra cost.
A matching gift is when a company donates the same amount an employee gives to a nonprofit. So if someone donates $50, their employer may also donate $50 — instantly doubling the impact.
You can say:
“By the way, does your company offer matching gifts? Many employers match donations, which can double your impact.”
If they aren’t sure, guide them:
1. Ask HR: “Does our company match donations to nonprofits?”
2. Check the benefits portal: Search “matching gifts,” “employee giving,” or “corporate philanthropy.”
3. Check the company giving platform: If they use Benevity, CyberGrants, YourCause, or similar, search Friendship Circle of Houston.
4. Encourage them to check anyway: Even smaller companies often match gifts — many donors are surprised they qualify!
