Description

The only running event with a halftime, the Double Road Race 8K features a 5K, recovery period, then a 3K. Participants run a total of 8K (5K+3K). Join us at the National World War I Museum & Memorial in Kansas City for a one-of-a-kind running experience! All proceeds from the 2nd Annual National WWI Museum & Memorial 8K Double support the Museum. We thank this national treasure for their strong support of the Kansas City running community.

How It Works:
Participants will first run a 5K. Following the 5K there is a recovery period. They will then finish with a 3K. Both distances are run on USATF certified courses. The combined distance is 8 kilometers (roughly 5 miles). Times from both the 5K and the 3K are combined. Awards are distributed based on combined time. We will also have a Kids Cup event. Kids will also be running a double with the both segments being a 1/2 mile long.

Race Day Schedule:
9:00 AM - First leg (5K) starts
10:15 AM - Second leg (3K) starts
11:00 AM - Awards Ceremony
11:15 AM - Kids Cup Starts - 1/2 mile
11:30 AM - Kids Cup 1/2 mile

Recovery Zone:
The recovery period (or "Halftime") is what makes this event unique! The length of your recovery period will be dependent on how quickly you finish the 5K. However, if you run it too quickly, you may wear yourself out for the 3K! Be to sure to develop your own strategy prior to race morning. Our recovery zone will feature stationary bikes and massage tables to keep you loose and ready to go for the 3K. There will also be plenty of water, sports drink, and snacks to refuel if desired.

Start/Finish:
The race will start and finish on the north lawn of the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

Awards:
1st Place Overall Male and Female Winners will receive a large, cherrywood Double Road Race plaque and $50 cash!
The Top 3 M/F in the following age groups will receive a cherrywood plaque: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

Everyone Gets:
A commemorative Double Road Race Kansas City finisher engraved dog tag! Participants will also receive a long sleeve cotton shirt, chip timing, and a fantastic festival with plenty of post race snacks and beverages.
