Viva Hackensack! A Free Community Festival hosted by the Friends of the Johnson Public Library. Thursday, April 25 from 4-7pm

Over 75 people joined the Friends of the Library and about 18 participants as they showcased all that Hackensack has to offer!  They stopped by the Library auditorium to taste food from local restaurants, learn about educational and entertainment opportunities from local organizations, enjoy fun activities, explore ways to connect with the community, and view a live drone demonstration. The event was Co-sponsored by the Greater Hackensack Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Hackensack Main Street Business Alliance.  CLICK HERE TO SEE THE EVENT WEBSITE

We presented our very first MINI GOLF IN THE JOHNSON PUBLIC LIBRARY event in July 2022 for adults and children — a full 18 holes inside the Library, plus refreshments!  It was a great success - everyone had lots of fun and we raised over $3,000 for the Library. The Friends also sponsored the Library's participation in the 2022 ARTS AMBLE featuring artists and crafters in the Library, plus a rock painting art project, displays of student art from Hackensack schools, and squeegee paintings created by local teenagers. In May 2023, we funded the Library's program WHEN BROADWAY WAS BLACK: A CELEBRATION OF SHUFFLE ALONG featuring Caseen Gaines, the book's author and popular Hackensack resident.

In November 2023 we collaborated with Art N Soul Tattoo Studio to Present The “Tattoo Chapter,” a unique event at their Studio at 51 Main Street in Hackensack, where ink met imagination in a celebration of literature and art.

The Friends of the Johnson Public Library Board is now meeting virtually via Zoom video conference, usually on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4:30 pm.  If you would like to participate, please send an email so we can add you to the invitation list.

The Friends of the Johnson Public Library is an independent  501(c)(3) organization and all net proceeds will benefit the Johnson Public Library.
