My Best Friend's 5k Road Race

This year, “My Best Friend” represents children who would love to attend summer camp at the Gift of Love Farm in Simsbury, but their families cannot afford to send them. Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church has organized this race to raise funds to provide scholarships for these deserving children. The summer camp includes hands-on experiences with animals and gardens to enhance student learning. 

Starting and ending at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Simsbury, this 5k road race and 1.5 mile walk take advantage of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. Since the race is mostly on the paved rails-to-trails path it is an easy course with very little traffic. 

The entry fee for the 5k is $20 (8 years to 8 years) and $25 (over 18 years). For the 1.5 mile walk the fee is $10 (8 years to 18 years) and $15 (over 18 years). For runners and walkers under 8 years old there is no entry fee. 

Entry fees include a free tri-blend t-shirt  - sizes and quantities are not guarenteed, so sign-up early!

Electronic timing will be provided for all runners and walkers (8 years old and over).  

Medals for top runners in each division will be awarded. The divisions are Children (under 8), Junior Youth (8 - 14), Senior Youth (15 – 18), Young Adult (19-29), Thirties (30-39, Forties (40 – 49), Fifties (50 – 59), Sixties (60 – 69) and Seniors (70+). 

Additionally, each 5k and 1.5 mile participant that completes the course will be entered into a drawing for prizes. So, you don’t have to finish first – you just have to finish to be eligible to win!
