Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless

In 2016, 106,217 individuals in need walked through the doors of the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. Each day, the Day Center serves an average of 305 individuals.

When the Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry Day Center opened its doors to homeless men, women and children in 1986, people thought the converted 4,000 square-foot warehouse would adequately serve the need for several years as a Tulsa homeless shelter. But the Day Center was immediately stretched beyond its limits. In 1990, the night shelter opened to provide an overnight shelter for the homeless.

In October 1994, the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless dedicated a new 24,000 square foot facility, which is six times larger than the previous shelter. On June 1, 1999, the Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry Day Center became the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, Inc.

The Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless focuses on providing the full spectrum of what clients need to overcome homelessness, including an award-winning health clinic, personalized case management and computer access. The Tulsa Day Center is about more than helping the homeless. We are about empowering individuals to create a bright future.
