Hard Rock Run Update:
With all of the uncertainty in the world, particularly with Covid-19, our company has had to adapt and adjust just like many of you. With this in mind, we have had to make the hard decision to cancel the Sandy Flat 2020 Hard Rock Run for the health and safety of all involved.
Thank you for your understanding during these difficult times. We would like to thank each and every one of your for supporting The Shriners Hospital for Children through it all. We will be issuing refunds in the coming days. If you'd like, you can donate your ticket refund so that we can continue making a difference during the coronavirus crisis. If not, we understand. In the meantime, please stay safe.
Want a challenge that will really see what you're made of? Take you to a place that the general public hardly gets to experience?
The Hard Rock Run will take you down steep declines into an active, open pit mine and then you will have to attempt to get back out. The route will be an approximate 6k; runners will start off easy, allowing you to warm-up, before descending 380' into the pit. It's up to you on how you get back out: run, walk, or crawl. Our haul roads are about a 10% grade, nice and easy going down, but hard coming back out.
If running is not your thing, then come out and walk or run/walk the route and enjoy the view! From our location, you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop and take selfies with our giant equipment. After the run, participate in a tour of the quarry led by plant staff.
New for this year, we have added a 1-Mile Kids Fun Run. Children must be accompanied by an adult (the event is free for adults to participate). Everyone must sign a release of liability waiver before entering the quarry.
Teachers, students, veterans, first-responders, and military will receive a 5 dollar discount.
All proceeds will be going to The Shriners Hospitals for Children - Greenville. To give, please click (HERE). All donations are 100% tax deductible through link.
