On Saturday, October 29th, 2022, the Irvington Vampire Run will take place as part of the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival’s Street Fair. This event will have a new course this year on the streets of historic Irvington south of Washington Street. The race starts at 9:30 AM with packet pickup starting at 8:00 AM at Ice House Coffee Roasters/Coal Yard Coffee. The course itself begins on Burgess Ave just west of Ritter. The run will travel north on S Ritter Avenue, turn east on University Avenue, go around the north half of S Irving Circle before continuing east on University, turn west on Oak Ave, turn south on S Audubon Road, turn east on Beechwood Ave, turn around near the Kile Oak, turn back north on S Audubon Road, turn west to go around the southwest portion of S Irving Circle, turn west onto University Ave, turn south onto Burgess Ave, cross S Ritter Ave onto Downey Ave, turn around near the Benton House, turn west onto Ohmer Ave, turn west on University Ave, turn north onto Downey Ave, turn east onto Julian Ave, then turn south onto the Pennsy Trail along S Ritter Ave, and finish on the Pennsy Trail along Bonna Ave.

How will this affect you?

Road Closures: The starting area on Burgess Ave west of S Ritter Ave will be closed to the railroad tracks from 7:30 AM until approximately 10:00 AM.

The affected roads east of S Ritter Ave will be closed from 9:25 AM until approximately 10:30 AM. These include University Ave between Ritter and Oak Ave, Oak from University to Audubon Rd, Audubon from S Irving Circle to Beechwood Ave, Beechwood from S Arlington St to Burgess Ave, Burgess from University to Ritter, and all of S Irving Circle.

Roads west of Ritter will reopen by approximately 11:00 AM. These include Downey Ave from Ritter to Julian Ave, E Ohmer Ave from Downey to University, and University from Ohmer to Ritter.

Access will be granted to emergency personnel as needed. Any other traffic found on the roads will be immediately directed by IMPD and race personnel to the nearest exit point and not be allowed re-entry until roads reopen.

Affected intersections: S Ritter Ave at Burgess Ave/Downey Ave and Bonna Ave/Pennsy Trail. Road traffic on Ritter will be stopped be IMPD to give right of way to run participants crossing Ritter until approximately 11:00 AM.
